Hotel Review
Le Grand Quartier, Paris, France
A relative newcomer to the Parisian hotel scene, Le Grand Quartier has an independent spirit that's totally in keeping with its location in Paris's diverse 10th arrondissement. It's a short hop from the Eurostar, but this is a genuine urban haven, with a Wes Anderson-esque exterior and leafy courtyard giving way to lovely communal spaces. A cool ground floor cafe-restaurant attracts as many locals as it does visiting guests, and enthusiastic young staff - some wearing a low-key uniform of smart green hoodie and dark blue trousers - make staying here a delight. Rooms are likewise stylish and comfy, and though some are on the small side you won't be spending much time there - on your doorstep are some of the French capital's finest bars, boutiques and boulangeries.

Style & Character
Couples with an eye for aesthetics will appreciate the low-key artworks and the concept store selling Caval shoes - the purposefully mismatched designs are worn by staff. We love the sense of sanctuary you feel in the hotel - with its gardens and abundant indoor planting, it feels a world away from the busy streets of Paris.

Food & Drink
We love the flexible approach to breakfast - book anything from the full buffet to a bag containing fruit, juice and granola bar; handy for an early start. The pastries, in particular a Breton butter-cake called a kouign-amann, do not disappoint!
