WHAT WE LOVE...

It's remarkable this hasn't been thought of before: a hotel which not only incorporates a cinema, but transforms each and every one of its accommodations into a screening room. Owned by independent French cinema chain MK2, it occupies a seven-story building near Place Nation which houses a movie theatre in the basement. Each of the 35 rooms and two suites has its own projector, a screen on the wall - or one which lowers from the ceiling - and access to hundreds of films via an iPad, as well as a library of DVDs on every floor. Thick, daylight-obscuring curtains are the last element you need to turn your bedroom into your own personal version of the Odeon. You can order in food via Deliveroo or get room service, and the 'minibar' is a selection of movie snacks, from popcorn to chocolate-covered peanuts. Even the reception area feels like a cinema ticket booth, reached via a small, light-flooded cafe on the ground floor. Vintage cinema posters line the corridors and stairwells, but the overall design is tastefully done, and avoids feeling too themed.

The hotel suites cinephiles, first and foremost, as well as couples, friends, and, potentially, families. We loved the whole concept - it's completely unique.

Paradiso, Paradiso Superior, Grande Paradiso, Junior Suite, Suite Cinema, Grande Suite Cinema, Le Loft

Food & Drink

We loved the relaxed, informal ambience; you can sit outside on the pavement and watch the world go by. There is nothing quite like a flaky French croissant straight out of the oven.

Café: informal dining, French cuisine. Brunch, gourmet cinema snacks or caviar platters from Maison Kaviari. Open daily, 10am-11pm.
Rooftop: bar and terrace, cocktails and gourmet snacks. In the summer, the open-air cinema runs every Sunday from 9:30pm.
