WHAT WE LOVE...

Set slightly away from the party town, this chic new hotel still creates its own lively atmosphere with an in-house DJ and glamorous swimming pool to see and be seen by. Essentially two different blocks, separated by a small road (this was originally a Casa Cook boutique hotel until Thomas Cook went into administration), they house 189 rooms in a range of different categories, as well as a purpose-built gym and spa area, two restaurants, a bar and juice stand. The design is of the moment, with strips of dark wood cladding the exteriors from top to bottom, and concrete, glass and steel featuring heavily. There's a small beach nearby, a little supermarket just outside the entrance, and the coastal strip featuring iconic bars like Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo is just a twenty minute stroll away.

THE DETAILS

Location

Swerve the more commercial Cafe Mambo or Cafe del Mar, which will only let you sit by the water if you're dining, for SunSeaBar, which serves a delicious fruity Sangria with Cava accompanied by a prime view.

This hotel is set just away from the busy main strip, which you can reach with a 20 minute stroll to the beach.
By plane: there are direct flights from London (2 hours 30 mins) and Manchester (2 hours 50 mins). The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport. Free on-site parking. skyscanner.net

Style & Character

While families are welcome, and indeed have their own pool, this is much more suited to younger travellers, particularly groups of friends. It's all incredibly Instagrammable, from the turquoise waters of the pool, to the gunmetal grey interiors of the reception area, and the calming tones of the bedrooms.

Service & Facilities

Start the morning with an hour-long series of yoga stretches - suitable even for beginners - which will set you up for the day.

Rooms

The Junior Suite boasts a bath almost big enough to be used by an entire football team; suffice to say, couples will love it. We love the expansive balcony too, where you can sit outside with a view onto either the pool or nearby hills.

Food & Drink

The buffet breakfast at To Kima is simply vast; you can have everything from glasses of Moet, eggs any style, cold meats, cheeses, a variety of exotic fruit and more. The moreish, spicy glazed prawns at OKU are a must-order, with the wagyu gyoza a close second.

OKU: Asian and South American fusion dining. À la carte menu includes oysters, Wagyu beef, black cod and sushi.
To Kima: nourishing breakfasts and all-day lunches. Spanish cuisine with an Asian twist.
The Bar: drinks, juices, aperitifs and cocktails.
