WHAT WE LOVE...
In a quiet residential neighbourhood to the north of the city, this guesthouse makes up for the 15-minute walk to the centre by its charm, warmth and fantastic value. On the top two floors of a 19th-century residenza, the rooms have a vibrant, ethnic-influenced style with colourful rugs, polished parquet and tiled floors, vintage furniture and four-poster beds. The hall and sitting room are inviting - with books and artwork - while the real treat is the roof terrace. Set with tables and chairs, from here you can pick out the city's landmarks; spectacularly floodlit at night. Enjoy breakfast up here if you like, or in the cosy breakfast room. Cakes, hot drinks and an honesty bar are available all day and the staff have great tips for local bars and restaurants.
