WHAT WE LOVE...

At this stylish, family-run independent hotel, white, brass and black dominate. The Ranza family have converted their private five-storey Neoclassical-style residence into an elegant boutique hotel breathing Milanese style and sophistication. Clean lines, geometric contrasts, and a black and white colour scheme ooze understated Milanese elegance, with a shallow courtyard pool dominating the ground floor. Rooms have crisp white linen and stylish design pieces (brass lamps and bedside tables; vintage-style Milano chairs featuring a contemporary take on trattoria seating). Everything here is about Milanese craft and expertise - even the produce at Senato Caffè is mostly sourced from specialty shops and local producers to show off the city and wider region's rich foodie heritage.

Rooms

Rooms 408 and 409 on the fourth floor are flooded with natural light and offer lovely views over the rooftops of Milan. The spotlessly clean rooms and simple yet stylish design are great. The blackout curtains and quadruple glazing are a real plus too, stopping any disturbance from busy Via Senato.

Classic, Terrace, Superior rooms, Senato and Duomo junior suites
Facilities include: ensuite with shower, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities

Food & Drink

The café aims to promote local produce, with ingredients sourced from nearby farms and producers. The Coda Nera Riserva smoked salmon melts in the mouth. It's served with black croutons, butter, lime and sour cream, and makes the perfect accompaniment to a glass of Franciacorta bubbly.

Senato Caffè: simple dishes, high-quality ingredients, vegan options. Open daily. Mains from €11.
