WHAT WE LOVE...

Housed in an 19th-century building, this swanky hotel with an especially impressive restaurant manages to combine elements of its lengthy past with the most contemporary décor. Situated in the heart of the city by the Jewish quarter in the Regola neighbourhood but also near the smart, architecturally important Via Giulia and with the bohemian Trastevere district also nearby, it's ideal for discovering central Rome's diversity. Numerous main sights are within walking distance. It feels five star but is actually four, and weaves together features like herringbone parquet and green granite floors, wood panelling, marble, velvet, exposed brick, mid-century Italian furniture, metal and contemporary art, all against a principally black and grey colour palette. Bronze, steel, brass and copper accents are a reminder of the blacksmiths that used to work in this street.

Rooms

Our sleek, minimalist Loft room had a living area, with a bright orange banquette. We loved the minimalist décor with industrial-chic feel (through exposed brick walls); the contemporary look makes you feel you're staying somewhere special.
