A fun-loving boutique hotel on the North bank of the Giudecca canal. The location is a bit out of the way from the main tourist area, but it's only a short walk to the Guggenheim and the creative Dorsoduro district. The light here in summer is fantastic too, when the wide promenade is filled with cafe tables. The hotel is in an 18th-century building that was once the offices and cruise terminal of the Adriatic Shipping company, and lots of the original features have been kept, including the marble and terrazzo staircase. The heart of the hotel is the vibrant restaurant, serving Adriatic specialties, and the speakeasy cocktail club, which is true to the Experimental company's origins (they began as a cocktail bar in Paris) and serves up some innovative concoctions.

There's a kiosk serving coffees and aperitivos in the sunshine on the canal edge just next door to the hotel.

The hotel is on the Zattere overlooking Giudecca, a short walk from a couple of vaporetto stops; you can walk to St Mark's Square.
By plane: direct flights to Venice from London take 2 hours. Take an airport boat (1 hour 30 mins) to reach the hotel, or a water taxi.
