WHAT WE LOVE...

Finca Arminda is not a hotel. It's a family home. You are treated as a guest of la familia rather than a tourist. Especially as the majority of staff speak only Canarian, a dialect of Spanish that is more South American than Castilian. Walking into the property takes you back in time to when owner Arminda grew up here, with the decor preserved for posterity. The whitewashed property has a colonial air to it - this is an area that grew rich on exports and there are banana plantations nearby. It was their popularity in the UK that led to the South Quay Import Dock in London's Docklands being renamed Canary Wharf, after the boats laden with fruit arriving there.

Taste local vintages at family-run Bodega Carlos Fernández S L in neighbouring Breña Baja, one of the island's leading vineyards.

Style & Character

Older couples will adapt easily to the slow pace at Finca Arminda. We love strolling around the estate inside and out and getting to know exactly how the other half lived in colonial La Palma.
