Tucked away on a leafy square off bustling Oxford Street, The Beaumont embodies all the glamour of the roaring 1920s. Interiors are a nod to Art Deco, with metallic colour palettes, polished chequerboard floors, cherrywood panelling, and quirky black and white photographs of film stars and politicians adorning the walls. At Le Magritte Bar & Terrace, you'll find regulars sipping bourbons, American whiskies and top-notch cocktails in a Prohibition-era inspired setting featuring backlit alabaster columns and subdued lighting, while at the excellent The Colony Grill, charming wait staff serve transatlantic favourites in a bustling dining room with deep red Italian leather banquettes exuding a Twenties New York vibe. For a little pampering, head to the gorgeous all-white marble Spa complete with steam room, sauna, ice plunge pool and hammam.

We love the wonderfully central location and peaceful setting. You're in the heart of London, although on this leafy square you feel a world away from the hubbub of Oxford Street.

The hotel is in Mayfair, a short walk from Oxford Street and the West End.
By car: the hotel is four hours from Manchester and 2 and a half hours from Bristol. Paid parking from £54 per day.
By train: Bond Street tube is three minutes' walk away; London Marylebone is a 10-minute taxi ride.

Style & Character

Best suited to couples and small groups of friends (the spa's a great little spot for a friendly catch up), although it does a great job at catering to a broad clientele. You'll find families here too, along with regulars nursing their favourite tipple at the bar. We loved the murals and artworks in Fauvist palettes that add fun pops of colour to the restaurant.

There's a bustling atmosphere at The Colony Grill, with its cosy deep red leather banquettes and striking murals; waiting staff are delightful. The à la carte breakfast is excellent, with refreshingly diverse choices including açaí bowls and delicious duck egg hashes (we loved the smoked haddock hash).

Le Magritte: 1920s style cocktail bar.
