In Manchester's Northern Quarter, this cool boutique hotel offers plenty of thoughtful extras for guests. There's free prosecco and nibbles early evening, and milk and cookies waiting when you get back from a night out. Many of the original features in the former textile warehouse have been restored and kept - expect exposed brick, marble fireplaces and sash windows - and rooms, while small, have everything couples or friends on a city break will need. There's free Netflix if you'd like to kick back and relax, and hair styling kits are a nice touch should a night out be on the cards. The downside to the hotel's location is that there can be some street noise at night - but earplugs are provided.

You're a short stroll away from some of the city's most interesting dining options, from Michelin-starred Mana to the Mackie Mayor food hall.

The hotel is in the midst of the Northern Quarter with a wealth of exciting bars, restaurants and arty shops nearby.
By car: 1 hour 20 minutes from Leeds, around an hour from Sheffield and 4 hours from London. Cow Hollow does not offer on-site parking, though you'll find public car parks nearby.
By train: Manchester Picadilly is a five-minute walk from the hotel, serviced by trains from London Euston (2 hours), Chester (1 hour 30 minutes) and Liverpool Lime Street (1 hour).
