The Rose & Crown, Snettisham, Norfolk
Pubs with rooms don't come more adorable than this idyllic spot, nestled in the backstreets of a typical Norfolk village, close to the church and cricket pitch. The Rose & Crown is as popular with locals as with guests looking for an authentic welcome. A warren of rooms are linked by narrow passages which reveal cosy bars warmed by open fires and woodburners. Bedrooms are unstuffy in cool, seaside colours, with gleaming bathrooms, and the restaurant serves tasty pub classics as well as less traditional options. Children and dogs are well-catered for and this inn makes an excellent base for walkers, sailors, birdwatchers and golfers.
Its position next to the village cricket pitch makes this inn the go-to local for summertime pints after matches.
Located in the sleepy Norfolk village of Snettisham, with the coast and a large nature reserve nearby.
By car: The pub is just under 3 hours from London, around 2 hours 40 mins from Birmingham and just over an hour from Norwich. There is a large car park at the back.
By train: London Kings Cross to King's Lynn station takes 1 hour 50 mins. A taxi to the pub then takes around 25 mins. thetrainline.com

We love their tapas dishes, including crispy halloumi, Dingley Dell pork belly and fire-roasted falafel, but our favourite dish is Braised beef shin Guinness suet pudding, with parsley root puree, salt baked beetroot and crispy kale.
