Hidden away in two historic buildings, sitting opposite Oxford's Town Hall, the Museum Hotel couldn't be more central. You'll enter with a code and likely meet no staff unless you've arranged for the bag drop service. The rooms are decked out in luxuriant style and complimentary snacks and drinks are provided in the two handsome lounges. And that's it in terms of service, no reception, no parking, no bar or restaurant, but the central location means you can find everything on foot.

We love being able to ditch the car and walk everywhere, even when stumbling home late at night.

Museum Hotel is located in Oxford's city centre. New Theatre Oxford and Oxford Castle are nearby cultural highlights, and some of the area's notable landmarks include University Church of St Mary the Virgin and Radcliffe Camera.
By car: around 1 hour 30 minutes from London or Bristol and just over 3 hours from Manchester. No on-site parking but Gloucester Green car park is a seven-minute walk from the hotel.
By train: around 50 minutes from London Paddington, 1 hour 20 minutes from Bristol Temple Meads and 2 hours 45 minutes from Manchester Piccadilly. Oxford station is a 15-minute walk away.

Style & Character

The hotel suits guests wanting easy access to the city centre but a tranquil stay removed from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. We love how the history of the buildings reveals itself as you walk around.

Service & Facilities

In contrast to the hotel's quiet atmosphere, the lounges feel cosy and welcoming, like a very private members' club.

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Self-service check-in

The rooms at the front of the building are a highlight, with their wonderfully big windows overlooking the Town Hall. There is a clever integration of period details from rough stone walls and oak beams to ornate fireplaces and bread ovens throughout the hotel.
