The Whispering Pine Lodge, Spean Bridge, Scotland
Loch Ness may be eternally popular, but that means it is often busy, and staying on the banks of stunning Loch Lochy near Spean Bridge at this supremely comfortable retreat means you get to enjoy real tranquility. Near Fort William, it is a perfect point for touring the Highlands. Originally a hunting lodge built in the 1800s when the clan of MacMartins of Letterfinlay owned the land, it has been restored thoughtfully, with a great eye for interior design. Offering 25 comfortable rooms, it also features a lovely bar, a loch-side restaurant offering a great selection of delicious Scottish, Indian and international dishes, and an impressive spa.
There are glorious walks on the doorstep and beyond - at all levels of difficulty - which is a delight. The pebble beach has a picture-perfect view of the loch.
Discover the Scottish Highlands' natural beauty with Loch Lochy and the Great Glen nearby, or visit the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery.
