This historic pub sits in the heart of Somerton, a pleasant market town that is believed to have given Somerset its name. It faces the Market Place, which is a good spot for browsing art and antiques. The pub has period features, a patio and a garden, while upstairs are eight rooms that work around the inn's old characteristics. Bedrooms feature wooden beams and a relaxed, eclectic style. The restaurant serves sourdough pizza and well-crafted, locally-sourced food. Somerton lies on a hill above the Somerset Levels, known for Glastonbury Tor, bird-filled wetlands and intriguing burial mounds.

We love being able to potter about town but also having the big skies and green fields of the Somerset Levels on the doorstep.

Located right in the heart of Somerton among the town's shops and cafés.
By car: around 1 hour 30 minutes from Bristol, 3 hours from London and 4 hours from Manchester. There is free parking available nearby.
By train: Castle Cary station is a 20-minute drive from the hotel, with services from London Paddington (1 hour 40 minutes), Exeter St. Davids (40 minutes) and Penzance (4 hours).

There is an excellent cafe-style range of coffees available at breakfast, from cappuccinos to lattes, filter coffee and mochas, the choice is unusually broad. Dogs are welcome in all rooms at a charge of £10.
