The first Four Seasons in Spain, this five-star hotel brings grand luxury right into the touristic centre of the city with its position by Puerta del Sol. Occupying an iconic 19th-century building that was once a bank, the entire property has been reimagined and transformed. The lobby occupies the space of the former banking hall and choice pieces of original décor have been salvaged and restored. In the rooftop restaurant, celebrity chef Dani Garcia cooks contemporary Spanish cuisine in stylish surroundings with views across the city, while in the Asian-inspired ISA you can order sushi with paired cocktails. A tranquil spa provides a coveted place to swim and rooms are large and luxurious, with beds you won't want to rouse yourself from.

There's a busking spot outside the hotel on Calle De Alcalá, which means you can open your window and listen to live instrumental music.

You're within walking distance of Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor, with shopping at Gran Vía close by too.
By plane: direct flights to Madrid from London (2 hours 20 minutes), Manchester (2 hours 40 minutes) and Edinburgh (2 hours 45 minutes). The hotel is a 30-minute drive from the airport. On-site parking available.
