Hotel Review
The Pavilions, Madrid, Spain
There is a youthful designer feel to this hotel, which is hidden away in a non-touristy part of the city just a few streets from the Plaza de Colón. The breakfast room is like an indoor garden with plants trailing along the glass-panelled ceiling. Elsewhere selected artworks from the respected Álvaro Alcázar gallery adorn the walls of the rooms and corridors and add to the creative vibe. Some of the rooms have large terraces overlooking the plaza and they all have sophisticated interiors with either black or red as the dominant colour and banquettes upholstered in fabric that depicts Madrid street scenes. In-room minibars are surprisingly affordable (€3.50 for a beer) and all rooms have coffee machines, smart TVs and bluetooth speakers.
