Michelin-starred Messina restaurant is next door and well worth a visit. Dishes such as duck ham dipped in egg yolk surprise and delight.

This beachfront hotel is a short walk from Marbella's old town, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
By plane: flights to Malaga from London and Manchester take under 3 hours. The hotel is a 45-minute drive from the airport. Parking costs €16 per day.

The 'Oh La La The One' room has contemporary furnishings and a spacious balcony to enjoy uninterrupted views over the sparkling sea. Being able to see the sea while showering is a lovely statement design addition to the room.

Amàre Beach: serving salads, grilled meats and fish. Open daily, 11am-6pm.
