Hotel Review
Woodlands Park Hotel, Cobham, Surrey
Edwardian society once enjoyed house parties at this grand grade II-listed house where regular guests included the then Prince of Wales, who became Edward VII, and his one-time mistress, Lillie Langtry. Nowadays, guests are more likely to be seen enjoying afternoon tea in the magnificent oak-panelled Grand Hall while admiring the beautiful stained-glass roof, fine minstrel's gallery and crystal chandeliers. The house was commissioned by industrialist William Bryant, the son of the founder of Bryant & May the match manufacturer, whose legacy is celebrated with matchstick carvings in the beautiful Oak Room, where top-notch dining is served. Sumptuous bedrooms are befitting of a luxury country house hotel from Handpicked Hotels.
