WHAT WE LOVE...

Built in 1922 by the wealthy heirs to the Pierce Arrow Motor Company, Ingleside Inn offers cosy, whitewashed cottages, a lawn-framed pool and complimentary margaritas at 5pm. The restaurant is named after its charismatic owner for 41 years, Melvyn Haber, who chronicled the 'colourful world of the caviar crowd' in books he placed in the bedrooms for his residents' amusement. This is a historic hotel you want to spend time in with a tangible pedigree - guests can still dine at the table where Frank Sinatra held court while enjoying some Jack Daniels on the rocks. Add in a bijou pool, charming gardens and a central location and this is one of the most memorable stops in Palm Springs.

Style & Character

Ingleside Inn is adults only and a popular venue for weddings and celebrations. It suits international travellers tuning into vintage Palm Springs and stylish couples escaping the California coast. We loved the intimacy of the property with its cottages and cosy corners - this really was (and still is) a hideaway for Hollywood stars.

Service & Facilities

We enjoyed relaxing by the small, brick-framed swimming pool, set in an enclosed garden with chic teak loungers and a hot tub.

The spacious and light-filled Premium Patio Rooms are particularly appealing with their lounge area and private sun terrace. These aren't the slickest of rooms, but they do have a charm and period character you won't find anywhere else in Palm Springs.

The complimentary chilled beers and mix-yourself margaritas served in the reception lounge from 4-8pm slip down nicely at sunset. The staff at Melyvn's are experts in preparing flambéed dishes at your table, including a definitive steak Diane and bananas Foster.
