WHAT WE LOVE...

This Jacobean country house hotel is set in idyllic grounds and is convenient for visiting both Bath and Bradford-on-Avon - which is within walking distance. It caters mainly to families, with thoughtful services that enable a stress-free break in the Wiltshire countryside. The atmosphere is very relaxed, so don't worry too much about dressing for dinner. The house has lots of historic features and doesn't lack character, though the furniture might be a little too "shabby-chic" in places for some. The hotel is loved by parents who take advantage of the creche, babysitting and the attractively-located Elemis spa. Children, meanwhile, love the age-appropriate games and activities, the fun-filled gardens, chickens and the outdoor heated pool in summer.

We love the hotel's visible history and the wide variety of room styles that should suit everyone. Our favourite room is the John Baskerville Suite, which has a sitting room and fireplace downstairs, plus 18th-century graffiti by way of Baskerville's name etched onto the window.

Food & Drink

We love that children are given a special early dinner sitting, freeing parents up for the evening. It is nice to know that no-one minds if they make a mess. Our favourite dish is the satisfying and flavoursome chargrilled steak with thick chips.
