Board the lovely Bolette for a very special pre-Christmas sailing, exploring the cities of western Europe. Your itinerary has been planned to coincide with Belgium's Christmas markets, and with an overnight stay on board in the port town of Zeebrugge, you'll have plenty of time to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of the festive season.
Your first port of call Honfleur is full of treasures and is proud of its artistic and architectural heritage, which can be evident when visiting the Old Harbour (Vieux Bassin). During December, you'll find the Christmas market set up in the town hall square, with the smell of hot chocolate and cinnamon filling the air. You could choose to stroll through Honfleur's gardens, or its medieval streets, complete with magical light displays and revel in the special festivities.
Zeebrugge is the gateway to both Bruges and Brussels and with two days in this seaport town, there's plenty of time to explore and feel suitably festive. Of course, Belgium is famous for its chocolate and you'll see plenty of picture-perfect chocolate shops as you wander the streets. Be sure to visit the Christmas markets in Bruges, or perhaps try your hand at ice skating on one of the rinks, specially set up for the season. Zeebrugge itself has a lively market square. With no limits on luggage, it's the perfect time to stock up on Christmas gifts and delicious delicacies.
The cruise then takes you to Rotterdam, the Netherlands' second-largest city. Known for its cube-houses and the large Markthal, there will be plenty of seasonal events to enjoy here too. Enjoy the city's magical winter ambience as you explore the city, visiting more Christmas markets and taking in the illuminations - particularly along Coolsingel and in the Koopgoot shopping district.
