Sail into the Arctic's magical midnight sun on Golden Horizon
Experiencing the 'white nights' of summer is like seeing a a prolonged sunset and sunrise all at once. This extraordinary natural phenomenon creates 24-hour days above the Arctic Circle, and on this extended voyage you'll take full advantage of them on a range of adventurous excursions.
Travelling in luxury on Tradewind's Golden Horizon, the world's largest square-rigged sailing vessel, your 22-night itinerary starts and ends in the UK and includes most of Norway's 2,650 mile-long coastline. During the summer solstice the stunning scenery of the North Cape is bathed in permanent sunshine so this voyage will truly encapsulate Tradewinds simple yet unique philosophy - to follow the sun, using the winds and the currents to visit some of the world's most magical destinations.
With its glacial fjords and dramatic waterfalls, snow-topped mountains and abundance of wildlife, there is nowhere quite like Norway. You can go on take-your-breath-away scenic walks, tackle the steps of man-made mountain stairways, meet local huskies, try dog sledding and go in search of sperm whales and sea birds. Ports of call include Tromsø, one of Europe's most northerly cities, Ålesund, with it's distinctive art-nouveau architecture and Trondheim, the regions medieval capital founded by a Viking King.
Your home throughout will be Golden Horizon, a near replica of a 1913-built ocean-faring ship, which combines the charm and romance of a classical vessel, with the food and service you expect of a modern one. Plus she's almost fully sustainable and powered by nature for at least 70 per cent of the year. This promises to be a unique voyage for nature lovers and sailors alike at the best possible time to go to witness the Arctic's never- ending sunsets.
