Stratford-upon-Avon is a beautiful medieval market town on the banks of the river Avon, with more than 800 years of history, and replete with half-timbered buildings. But it's better known as the birthplace of 16th century playwright and poet, William Shakespeare.
During this itinerary, you'll learn more about The Bard, and enjoy a Shakespeare Experience guided tour - as well as plenty of time to explore the sights of the town at leisure.
Amongst the highlights is a panoramic sightseeing tour of Stratford. Your guide will be on hand to point out the numerous buildings of interest - including Anne Hathaway's cottage, William Shakespeare's house and school, and the guildhall. You'll also partake in a Tudor lesson.
Also on the itinerary is a trip on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, where a train will take you from Cheltenham racecourse to the historic village of Broadway. Travel through the Cotswolds - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and take in the sleepy hamlets en route. There will be sensational views of the Malvern Hills and beyond.
And with the countdown to the New Year on the horizon, enjoy a spectacular Gala dinner at your hotel. A wonderful opportunity to toast to the trip so far and bring in 2023 with your nearest and dearest - it's sure to be a special occasion.

Make your own way to our hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, where you will meet your Tour Manager, enjoy dinner and a relaxing evening.
This morning you will be joined by a local guide who will take you on a panoramic, sight-seeing tour of Stratford and the surrounding area. You will pass Anne Hathaway's cottage, the home of Shakespeare's wife-to-be. From here you will head back into Stratford-upon-Avon which is a medieval market town steeped in culture and history, and is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, born here in 1564 in a half-timbered house on Henley Street.
Your sight-seeing tour ends at Shakespeare's birthplace, a small cottage on the high street of Stratford-Upon-Avon which you will be able to explore. You then continue to Shakespeare's schoolroom and guildhall, where you will have time to explore the buildings. You can also participate in the Tudor lesson, write with quills, and hear about the medieval paintings, priests' chapel, and the court of record. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore before your coach returns to the hotel for your evening meal.
Today, you travel by coach to Cheltenham where you enjoy a one-way trip on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway. The train travels along part of the route of the former Western Railway's main line. You arrive in Broadway where you will have some free time in this quaint picture postcard village. After some free time, you return to your hotel ready for your New Year's Eve Gala Dinner.
Today is yours to spend at leisure, doing as much or as little as you like. Relax in the hotel or explore Stratford-upon-Avon and walk along the river, taking in the pretty half-timbered buildings of this medieval market town. Dinner is served at the hotel this evening.
After breakfast, you say goodbye to your Shakespearean setting and depart at leisure.
