What we love: You'll be joined on this trip by expert local guide Tullio Scurria, who'll give you unrivalled insight into authentic Sicilian life and invite you to his hometown to celebrate a local feast day.
Lights, camera, vacation! Set-jetting is expected to be one of this year's biggest travel trends, taking you to the amazing places you've seen on screen. Is there anyone who watched the recent season of The White Lotus or Amanda & Alan's Italian Job without dreaming of a visit to beautiful Sicily? If your recent TV viewing has piqued your desire to get away, then this culinary-focused trip is the perfect way to indulge your cravings.
On this delicious, week-long gourmet adventure, you'll take three hands-on cookery lessons where you'll find out how some of Sicily's most famous dishes are made under the expert guidance of Tullio, a local host. You'll learn how to make fresh pasta by hand, how to use the region's famous porcini mushrooms and how to prepare deliciously fresh fish antipasti.
As well as your culinary classes there are also tastings to look forward to where you can sit back and watch the experts at work before tasting their culinary creations, of course. You'll visit an authentic Sicilian pizzeria, where you'll see how the wood-burning oven is lit before tucking into pizzas fresh from the flames.
A highlight of the trip is sure to be a visit to Tullio's home town, Castell'Umberto, on a traditional feast day, Palio di San Martino. Sumptuous scents will fill the air in the town's main square, where you can sample a variety of typical Sicilian street foods like hazelnut tagliatelle, roasted chestnuts, and local wine as you watch the celebrations unfold.
While in pretty Castell'Umberto Tullio will invite you to his home, where his wife Rosalia will show you how to make traditional local cakes like cannoli, sfingi, and pignolata.
During your foodie adventure, you'll stay at the Ristorante-Hotel Antica Filanda, where you'll dine most nights. This small hotel is in a beautiful rural location nestled in the hills just outside the village of Capri Leone, with lovely views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian Islands.
