If you’re thinking that another year will pass without some foreign sun, do not despair! This boutique cruise around the Canaries ticks all the boxes for the perfect winter escape
Sailing in luxury on La Belle des Océans, you'll explore the
very best of this archipelago - from desert dunes to tropical
valleys, sandy beaches to towering volcanoes, picturesque villages
to contemporary cities - as you take in six of the seven islands,
including the off-the-beaten-track western islands of La Palma, La
Gomera and El Hierro. What's more, the temperatures reach 21°C,
even in winter.
La Belle des Océans is a far cry from big ocean cruise ships; it
houses a maximum of just 130 passengers and has superb facilities
to boot, including a pool, gym, spa and well-appointed cabins. The
food is first-class and all drinks are included with meals and at
the bar†. Lectures, music and cultural shows are also included. You
are free to explore or relax, too, with a wide range of optional
excursions.
Your first port of call is Lanzarote, with its otherworldly
lunar landscapes. Explore Timanfaya National Park, with its craters
and lava flows, plus enjoy a wine and cheese tasting at one of the
oldest bodegas in the Canaries. In Las Palmas, you can join a tour
of its historical, religious highlights and natural wonders, before
an evening of dinner and dancing back on board. The lush flora at
Garajonay National Park on La Gomera will be a stark contrast to
the previous islands.
On La Palma, you can enjoy ceramics, art, silk, and striking
views, as well as star-gazing with an expert. On El Hierro,
highlights will be the El Golfo Valley, which is lined with
pineapple, banana, papaya and mango plants, a wine and tapas
tasting, and a visit to the ancient town of Valverde. In Tenerife,
your final stop, you will have the chance to head to the top of
Mount Teide, take in the incredible views and start 2022 on a real
high.
