Stay for three nights in charming Chur, with discounts on local attractions and ride the Glacier Express to St Moritz

Spectacular mountain scenery, dramatic railway journeys with awe-inspiring views and travel over the Landwasser Viaduct… This short break will show you some of the best of the Swiss countryside. If you don't like travelling on group tours, this is the perfect trip for you, with independent travel on a departure date that suits you.

A highlight will be a ride on board the legendary Glacier Express from Chur to St Mortiz. This wonderful red train is known as 'the slowest express train in the world' and its leisurely pace allows you to really soak in the beauty of the Swiss Alps. In operation since 1930, the train now boasts comfortable carriages with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

You'll spend three nights in Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland, where you'll be based in a warm and welcoming hotel in a central location. Your ride on the Glacier Express takes you from enchanting Chur to the chic Alpine resort town of St Moritz, where you can spend a while wandering the elegant streets bordered with flowers and dining in some of the town's excellent restaurants.

Included in your stay is a Chur Guest Card, offering discounts on local transport and museums. You might choose to explore the Graubünden Art Museum, where you can see a fantastic art collection housed in two historical villas, or the Graubünden Natural History Museum, where you'll learn about the flora, fauna and geology of the Alps.

At the end of your short break, you'll travel back towards Zurich by local rail, enjoying your final views of the beautiful Swiss countryside, with gentle valley slopes and snow-covered hillsides dotted with wooden chalets.
