Marvel at masterpieces by Vermeer in the Netherlands and enjoy a private viewing at the world-famous Mauritshuis with a top art critic

There are only around 35 paintings attributed to the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, but his works are some of the most recognisable paintings in the world. They include View of Delft and Girl with a Pearl Earring. You will see both of these revered works on this exclusive six-day tour with the company of top art critic Andrew Graham-Dixon, who is an expert on Vermeer.

Andrew will share his vast knowledge of the Dutch Golden Age during an exclusive talk and Q&A session. A real highlight of the trip will be a private, out-of-hours viewing of the Vermeer Room at the Mauritshuis in The Hague, where Andrew will join you, before you explore the rest of the museum with a local expert guide.

A visit to Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum will give you the chance to explore its 8,000-strong collection of artworks, including some of Rembrandt's most famous works and Vermeer's The Milkmaid and Woman Reading a Letter.

There's also time on this trip to stroll through the leafy parks and squares and along the elegant boulevards of The Hague, discover Gouda's vast market square and taste its famous cheese, explore Leiden, the birthplace of Rembrandt, and go on a walking tour of beautiful Delft, where you'll be based for five nights.

You'll be staying in the conveniently-located Best Western Museumhotels Delft, right in the historical heart of the city and close to the excellent Prinsenhof Museum, which you'll visit to see artefacts from Dutch history and a collection of Golden Age paintings.
