This is the perfect long weekend escape for lovers of wildlife, combining time spent in two of Andalucía's most elegant cities with two days exploring the glorious rural landscapes of one of Spain's best national parks.

This four-night adventure starts in the beautiful Andalucían city of Seville, where you'll check into your hotel and have some free time to explore at your own pace. Get your fix of culture, architecture and mouth-watering tapas before travelling to the Sierra de Andújar National Park which will be your base for the next couple of days.

From your base in a family-run guest house right in the heart of the national park, you will explore the great outdoors on the prowl for the Iberian lynx. You'll have plenty of chances to spot this big cat during your stay, as the visit takes place during mating season, when sightings of this endangered feline are at their highest.

After two days soaking in the rich biodiversity and jaw-dropping landscapes of Sierra de Andújar, you'll travel back to Seville, stopping in Córdoba on your way.

You'll pay a visit to the ornate Mezquita, Córdoba's Great Mosque, which was turned into a cathedral in the 13th century, and marvel at its distinctive tiered arches. You can even climb the bell tower for sweeping views over the city and appreciate its beauty from above.

Your tour ends where it began, in wonderful Seville. This city is the birthplace of Flamenco, and you'll get the chance to attend a passionate and intimate performance while staying in the city.

Itinerary

    1
    Arrive in Seville
    Seville, Spain

    On arrival in Seville, you'll transfer to your hotel, where you'll meet your tour leader either that evening or the following morning. You'll stay the night at a hotel in the heart of the city, making explorations on foot easy.

    Spend the rest of the day finding your bearings and exploring this beautiful city. Seek out a tapas bar to experience the energy and flavours Seville is renowned for.

    This evening, you'll enjoy a fiery Flamenco performance, a passionate display of dance and music and one of Andalucía's most famous art forms, please note, this performance could take place on the first or final night of your trip.

    Sierra de Andújar
    Sierra de Andújar, Spain

    Following an early breakfast at your hotel you'll transfer to the jaw-dropping Sierra de Andújar national park.

    You'll settle into your accommodation, a welcoming, family-run guest house in the heart of the park, where you'll meet your guide and wildlife expert.

    The rest of the day will be spent in the company of your expert guide, searching for the Iberian lynx and other exceptional wildlife, including fallow deer, wild boar, mongoose, and falcons, throughout the national park.

    Search for the Iberian lynx
    Sierra de Andújar, Spain

    After breakfast at your guest house, you'll head back out into the heavenly landscapes of Sierra de Andújar to spend another day searching for Iberian lynx. You'll hike into the mountains, which are one of the last strongholds of this now endangered wild cat.

    Along the way, keep your eyes on the skies and you might spot the Spanish imperial eagle or a black vulture, and on the sides of the rugged mountains you will likely see some Spanish ibex with their impressive horns.

    Córdoba and Seville
    Cordoba, Spain

    This morning you'll head to a mountain viewpoint in Sierra de Andújar for a final chance to spot the elusive lynx.

    After saying goodbye to your guest house and to the park, you'll travel to the beautiful city of Córdoba, where you'll have the chance to explore the city and visit the stunning Mezquita, a grand mosque with distinctive arches which was converted into a Christian cathedral in the 13th century.

    After your exploration of Córdoba, you'll transfer back to Seville where the rest of the evening is free to enjoy the city as you wish.
